Rubberneck

A second year brief within which we were tasked with producing a printed editorial, regrading both its design and written content.

Selecting and researching the topic of sexualised imagery used within Advertisement, I explored the art direction of such imagery taking note of the highly personal and voyeuristic styling of the photographs. With this information, I art directed and shot my own series of images to be the focus of my editorial design. These images were later stripped of their colour and instead used in black and white to make emphatic the content of the imagery; the objectification and sexualisation of the models.

To pair with the photography hand-created visual components were used to further their message, with design psychology dictating that handwritten type and imperfect texture is more personal, relatable and emotive.

Furthermore, being designed within Adobe InDesign, and later professionally printed, I was able to develop a thorough understanding of the programme and editorial design throughout this project.
